Moped Seized
On the evening of Monday 8th October a moped was seen riding around on the field at Acre Close Recreation Ground by a member of the local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team. The officer called for assistance as the moped was making off through the alleyway towards Masters Road. A Reactive car crewed by two Police officers was in the Whitnash area at the time and came to assist. They stopped the moped in Masters Road to speak with the rider. The moped was further seized for no insurance and the rider reported for no insurance or licence.
This was an excellent example of the local and reactive officers working together for a safer community and resulted in a successful stop and seizure.

Operation Knockholt
Operation Knockholt This operation has been ongoing during the course of October. It is designed to combat Anti-Social Behaviour in the Whitnash SNT area and has involved officers from both the Whitnash policing team and the Leamington South team. Extensive patrols have been tasked to go around the hotspot areas in the Town and to take a zero tolerance viewpoint of any anti-social behaviour and underage possession of alcohol and tobacco. This has resulted in details being taken from people in these areas. These details have been added to the database that is being compiled by the Whitnash Safer Neighbourhood Team for the purposes of intelligence gathering.

BBC Film Local Officer
BBC Film Local Officer A local officer, PCSO 6059 Mike Green was filmed on the 17th October for the BBC One show The Politics Show. This shows the high esteem that is held by the Police HQ for Whitnash and the towns policing team. The film was shown on the 21st October at Midday. It was used to show how PCSOs work in the community and served to show that PCSOs are not Police Officers but work alongside them dealing with low-level crime. It showed our officer on foot patrol in the area talking with local shop keepers and offering crime prevention advice. The main idea was to show the differences in uniforms between PCSOs and PCs; ie the distinctive blue epaulettes and ties, the Community Support Officer wording on the Hi-Vis jackets and the blue and white checkered cap banding.

SpeedAware in Whitnash
SpeedAware is run by Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Unit to help local people address speeding problems.
The scheme consists of temporary fixed and mobile flashing SpeedAware signs, supported by other publicity materials.
This scheme has been deployed in Whitnash during October at the request of local Councillors.

Why is it important to make people Aware of the Speed Limit?
Excessive speed is a major contributory factor in road crashes where people are killed or seriously injured.
Every single road death causes immense grief and suffering.
Every road death costs around £1.5million.
Department for Transport figures

Speed Limits
Don’t get caught speeding - have another look at the highway code – did you know street lights mean it’s 30mph unless otherwise signed?
SpeedAware in Whitnash If you are in a built up area and there are no speed limit signs you should assume that the speed limit is 30.

SpeedAware - The faster you go…the harder you’ll hit
