Graffiti - criminal damage
As many members of our community are aware, at present, much like the country as a whole, we are suffering from our fair share of criminal damage by graffiti – also known as “tagging”,
As a Safer Neighbourhood team we do take this issue seriously and would like to make the following points to our business community, visiting community and the offenders themselves:-
1. Graffiti is a criminal offence, and falls under the Criminal Damage Act, and as such offenders will be dealt with according to those powers.
2. We would request that local businesses reconsider how they sell such items that can be used for graffiti, to make them less accessible to those offenders. Placing the items behind counters rather than on display, considering placing an age limit to who they sell too, i.e. not under 18 years.
3. businesses to consider displaying warning notices next to items they sell that maybe used for graffiti. Lets not forget many of these items do have a legitimate use.

To all those involved in this criminal act, we would like to remind them, there are NO LAWFUL sites for Graffiti, it is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE and they will be prosecuted and result in a criminal record, whether via courts, cautions or £80 fixed penalty tickets.
If you would like to report graffitti whether it be on Council, Business or Private property contact Paul Garrison of Warwick District Countil 01926 450000

Operation Frampton
An operation was run in Leamington Town Centre in March for a Friday and Saturday night with an aim of combating drink related crime and disorder. The operation was lead by PS Calver and involved officers coming into work on their days off to police a special van to patrol the town centre streets as a Police Support Unit (PSU). these officers were all qualified and had expertise in public disorder policing. The aim of the operation was conduct a robust zero tolerance policing of the town. As a result of the operation 9 arrests were made for low level public disorder, but resulted in a drastic reduction of violent crime for that weekend, with only 3 incidents reported over the two nights, of which 2 had persons prosecuted. PS Calver is planning to run the operation again around June. the officers on the operation consisted of officers from the Town SNT and other officers from response teams around the district. It also utilised the newly formed Force Operation Task Group, to complete vehicle checks, targeting street racers and drink drivers.
