SNT to engage with Partners and Local Young Persons To Address Anti Social Behaviour
Leamington town centre would like to hear from any group who would be interested in joining police, district council and other town centre partners to work towards reducing the incidence of nuisance behaviour in the town centre. The initiative, which is only in the planning stage would involve local partners including community groups working with the police to address the on-going issues with nuisance youths.
As part of this initiative, the Safer Neighbourhood Team will be encouraging youths to engage in discussions with the team, to find out why this type of behaviour has increased recently and what the youths think could be done to help prevent it happening.
Speaking about this initiative he said: "Nuisance behaviour including criminal damage, noise pollution and graffiti has become an issue in the town centre, quite understandably upsetting residents and causing concern to local businesses. We recently arrested youths for daubing graffiti under the Adelaide Road bridge after being alerted to their behaviour by Warwick district CCTV and we will continue to react we become aware of a problem. However we are looking to the future to prevent other incidents occurring and are in initial talks with Warwick District Council and local groups about how to best do this. An integral part of the initiative is to engage with local youths to find out their views and I would welcome contact from any local group or youth organisation who would like to help us achieve this."
