Mediation and Community Support

An independent service - Enabling people to make workable solutions in difficult situations. What is Mediation? Mediation is a way of resolving conflicts or disputes in which the people involved seek to find their own mutually agreed solutions to resolve the problem in a fair way with the help of the impartial mediators. When can mediation help? Any dispute, conflict, disagreement or difficult situation between two or more people can potentially be mediated. Some of the common causes of disputes that we have dealt with include noise, children’s behaviour, boundaries, communication breakdown, animals, upkeep of property / gardens and misunderstandings. What are the benefits of mediation? Mediation focuses on improving understanding and facilitating communication between people in conflict. It can help those involved gain a better appreciation of the issues, resulting in improved relationships between them. Mediation is a constructive and common sense approach which produces practical, workable and realistic solutions. Mediation is provided free to the general public and is a much quicker and a less stressful process than other options. It is less risky as parties only settle when they are satisfied with the agreement. This is unlike going to court where they take the risk of having the judge decide against them and losing their case.

VISION STATEMENT: Inspiring Young People MISSION STATEMENT: Develop and deliver imaginative, inspirational and quality youth work programmes. Develop and deliver training programmes which improve the quality of services for young people. To improve the quality of youth service provision to young people by providing services, capacity building and resources. To work in quality partnerships with other organisations. ABOUT US We are an Association of 130 youth clubs working with over 6,000 young people and 800 youth workers throughout Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire. The Association works to improve the quality of life of young people between the ages of 11 and 25 by developing their physical, mental, and spiritual capacities so that they may grow to their full maturity as caring and responsible members of society. We work directly with young people, regardless of age, sex or ability. WAYC is a registered charity, No 1056035 and a company limited by guarantee, No 3201917. We are governed by a Council of Management who meet ten times a year and oversee our work. We have 34 paid staff, and over 10 volunteers. WE OFFER Training and Support for Youth Workers, Training and Support for Young People, First Gear Road User Education Course, Youth Achievement Awards, Volunteering Opportunities, International Work, Arts, Youth Clubs, Summer Schemes, Detached Work and Club based Youth Workers EVERY CHILD MATTERS All of WAYC’s work fits into the five Every Child Matters outcomes. Staying Safe, Enjoying and Achieving, Economic Well-Being, Healthy Living, RESOURCES We have Art Boxes and Games available for hire as well as CD Resources for Youth Workers and Senior Members.
