Leamington South SNT Cycle Team
“To make the Leamington South SNT, more visible and accessible to the community it serves”
To meet the above statement, the safer neighbourhood team (SNT) needs to be fully accessible to the whole of its safer neighbourhood area (SNA). It needs to be highly visible and be able to travel around its area effectively enabling the team to visible to all of the community but without being unapproachable. The best two methods of this are back to traditional policing of “bobby on the beat”, where police patrol is conducted on foot and cycle without any barriers of a vehicle.
The south Leamington SNT teams were out on their new patrol bikes this week. They will be shortly completeing a intensive training course on how to ride and use the bikes to affect arrests. The bikes are fully equipped with a blue flashing light and a police siren. The bikes will enable the teams to pursue and arrest offenders who may of escaped arrest in the past due to the offenders being on bikes themselves.
