Local missing person questioned about alcohol theft
A local Kenilworth man who had been reported and registered as missing was questioned this week by Kenilworth oficers.

This was in connection with the theft of three bottles of alcohol worth £19.00 stolen from Iceland Stores Warwick Road Kenilworth.
The local male entered the store on Friday 20th June 2008 at 1509 hours, he selected the items from the shelf and walked out failing to offer any payment. A CCTV camera owned by a nearby bank captured images of the offender as he walked along the Warwick Road after committing the theft.
Police were able to link this male to the theft as he matched the description of an outstanding missing person currently logged on the Police Computer.
When questioned the male admitted stealing the bottles and has been summonsed to attend Mid Warwickshire Magistrates Court.

Witness Appeal -: Aluminium Theft
Between 1345 hours and 1600 hours on Tuesday 8th July 2008 on the Coventry Road in Kenilworth, a male left his Leyland Daf Pick Up parked up on the road side. On returning to the van he realised the aluminium offside panel on the side of his van had been removed and stolen. (leaving part of his vehicle stolen)

At around 2pm on the same day a resident on a nearby road (Finham Road) saw a yellow L D V van pull up outside a neighbours house and persons remove scrap metal from an unnatended van situated inside the neighbours front garden, the offenders on stealing the scrap metal have then driven off towards Villiers Road.
Police are appealing for members of the public who may have been in locations of Coventry Road, Finham Road Villiers Road and surrounding roads between the above times who saw a Yellow L D V pick up van acting suspiciously, to contact them.
Police are particularly interested on whether members of the public can give locations on where it was spotted, describe any persons on board or offer details of registration plate of the van.
Scrap metal theft in Warwickshire has increased by over 100 % over the last 2 years. This is largely due to India and China's demand for metal forcing prices up and in turn making scrap metal value very attractive to criminals. It ranges from the opportunist theft of a couple of sheets of aluminium to serious large-scale criminality.
Police believe the above incidents are the result of opputunist scrap metal thieves, and would like to advise people to keep all scrap metal secure so opputunists are not able to take advantage.
