On Tuesday 12th January 2010 a local officer was contacted via the retail link to report of a male shoplifter at Simsbury's - while the officer on foot patrol was on route to Simsbury's he was stopped by a male member of the public. He informed the officer that he had just heard a youth on the rear of the X17 bus bragging about stealing something from the Sony Centre in Leamington.

The officer immediately contacted colleagues who caught up with the bus on the Kenilworth Road, a 15year old male was found with a portable DVD player under his seat and was arrested for theft. This theft was later confirmed from the Sony Centre. The male shoplifter received an £80 fixed penalty and banned from the store.
