Community Policing in Warwick District
Warwick District’s eight Safer Neighbourhood teams, operational since November 2006, have a strong working relationship with the community, their elected representatives, and other organisations such as Neighbourhood Watch. Each team has a ‘Named Responsible Person’, usually a police sergeant. The community defines what kind of policing it needs - and holds the police and our partners responsible for our performance.
An Independent Advisory Group provides guidance to the force on how it can serve and work with minority groups. Faith and community meetings are regularly attended.
Police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) often use cycles to patrol their communities, so they are more visible and approachable.
Partnership meetings are held in Leamington at the police station, the Town Hall, or at the district council headquarters at Riverside House. To provide an enhanced level of policing, Community Police Officers and plain clothed officers support front line policing by taking statements and reassuring victims.
