Billy Bollard comes to Milverton
Billy Bollard arrived outside Brookhurst Primary School on 4th Sept 07, just in time for the start of term.
Billy is a child-shaped bollard designed to prevent children getting injured on the road,
Five Billy Bollards have been installed around the school on Ullswater Avenue in Milverton.
Each one is three feet high and has been painted in the school colours with a reflective strip to make Billy visible in the dark.
The road safety initiative has been organised by PCSO Sarah-Louise Lithgow from Leamington North Safer Neighbourhood Team who spotted Billy Bollard helping young children stay safe in France.
She said: "When I saw Billy standing guard in France, I realised this might be the answer to preventing accidents at the start and finish of the school day at Brookhurst Primary School.

"Warwickshire County Council, Brookhurst School Association and parents also contributed to the cost. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone for the tremendous support I have received."
Billy Bollards are in place to stop people parking illegally outside Brookhurst Primary School.
Early this spring, parents who parked dangerously or illegally were advised by local officers of the need to park sensibly. Advice did not prevent illegal parking, so motorists parking illegally were issued with fixed penalty notices. Twenty tickets were handed out over the next month.
Now Billy Bollard will be a permanent reminder and obstacle to illegal parking.

The team asks residents to continue to report any instances of vehicles being used anti-socially, ideally with the registration numbers of any vehicles involved. We would also ask that residents to report any persons or groups acting suspicious or been seen to cause Criminal Damage as it is happening. Please see the local information section of this website for further details.
Theft from Unattended Motor Vehicles
None of the vehicles had any damaged caused in order for the offender to gain entry to the vehicle. No damaged caused to the inside of the vehicle. There may be a possibility that the offender has a skeleton key or device that enables the offender to gain entry. The victims may have thought that they have not secured the vehicle the night before as when they return the vehicle is unlocked. (Please report theft from your vehicle even if you think you may have left the vehicle insecure). Please ensure that you empty vehicle of items before leaving your vehicle.

Reckless Damage results in two years in Custody
The pedestrian, baby and pram were splattered with some of the paint and could have been seriously injured. Several cars nearby were also marked with paint.
Sgt Greewal from the North Leamington Safer Neighbourhood Team who investigated the incident said,
"This was a mindless prank that could have had serious consequences A 5 litre pot of paint being thrown from a 14th floor could have killed someone had it hit them. Even though no one was harmed, a Custodial Sentence was appropriate given the serious risk and potential danger this behaviour posed. It also serves as a warning to others who behave recklessly and put others in risk of harm, it will not be taken lightly by the Police or the Courts."
