Drivers Caught Using Mobile Phones Penalized
PC Owen states- 'It is disappointing to see members of the public, who are all normally hard working law abiding citizens, still struggle to follow motoring laws that are put in place specifically to save lives. However proactive work such as the issuing of fixed penalty notices serves as not only as a means of 'repercussion' for the use of the phone, but also as a means of educating the motorist and also acts as a deterant for future instances. The use of a mobile phone whilst driving can severely effect a drivers concentration and ultimately could lead to serious injury or death, not only to the phone user, but to other motorists, passengers or pedestrians.'
