Noise making equipment seized.
On Tues 15th April 2008, Police Officers from the SNT assisted Housing and Environmental Health Officers from the District Council to execute a Warrant at a home on the Leamington North Area.
Because of persistent reports of noise nuisance at the address in a residential area, which Environment Officers had witnessed on several occasions, an Abatement Notice had been served warning the occupants of the address to stop playing loud music.
Several days later Environment Officers witnessed further noise nuisance that affected other residents, so a Warrant was obtained from a Magistrate authorising access to the property to seize all noise making equipment. The occupant was not at home, however the use of Force to gain entry was also given.

PC 899 Darren Lund from the Leamington North SNT said, "This is a good example of how we were able to assist partner agencies as they take enforcement action to prevent those responsible for persistent Anti Social Behaviour. The Environmental Health department can take enforcement action as they have done today. Be considerate to your neighbours and if you are suffering from noise nuisance do report it to the Council. They will take positive action to stop it."
Local Youth Charged
The incident happened after Officers from the North Leamington SNT attended a call of youths playing football in the street in the Crown Way area, as damage had occurred a few days earlier by the football. The ball was confiscated and advice given to the youths.
The Shop Keeper then told officers that one of the youths had spat in his face as they thought he had been the one to report it.
The youth was identified and arrested the same day.
He appeared in court on 01/04/08 where he was charged with Common Assault and given a 4 month Referral Order and ordered to pay £50 compensation to the Shop Keeper.

CCTV Improvements Help Identify Suspects
At the beginning of April this new technology came in useful after a young male was assaulted in Crown Way. Although the CCTV operators did not witness this taking place, the cameras where facing the right way and captured the whole incident.
The footage was so clear that officers where able to easily identify the two suspects.
One male has been charged and is due in court on the 15/04/08

Dispersal Zone - Lillington
Crown Way and surrounding areas are now designated under this scheme.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME? It means that a police officer in uniform, who believes anti-social behaviour is taking place, can order you to disperse immediately, if you fail to do so you can be arrested.
WHAT DOES DISPERSAL MEAN? It means you must leave the immediate area, the officer will direct you to where you can go, but you commit an offence if you stay in the designated area to which these powers apply.
WHAT IF I LIVE IN THE AREA? You have to leave the group you are currently associating with whilst in the designated area.
WHAT IF I LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE? You have to leave the area either immediately or by the time the officer has specified. Also the officer can ban you from returning to the location for up to 24 hours.
Also between the hours of 9pm and 6am if an officer believes a person is under 16 years of age in the designated area and not under the effective control of a parent or responsible person, then the Officer has the power to take them home.
WHAT IF I DON'T DO WHAT THE POLICE SAY? If you don`t do what the officer requests whilst in the designated area you can be arrested and taken to a police station. If you are 17 years of age or under your parents will then be informed.
The designated area will cover Crown Way, Wallsgrove Close, Bentley Close, Newnham Road, part Valley Road and Mason Avenue including the area around the Community Childrens Centre and Youth Centre.
There have been complaints from the Community Centre of youths on the roof and the Youth Centre of groups causing problems there. The Powers covering this area will enable Officers to deal with those few whose behaviour is causing problems for the Youth, Community and Children’s Centre staff.
