The red handed Graffiti artist!
On Thursday 29th March 2007 around 3pm a young male was seen by a passer by in the York Walk/Pump Room Garden area using red spray paint on the wall causing damage. The passer by reported it to the Police with the exact location and a description of the suspect. CCTV in the area picked up the male and monitored him using the spray paint on the wall.
A Police unit from the North Leam SNT attended to find two youths walking off. They were stopped and one was arrested on suspicion of causing damage with the paint, despite denying it. The youth was identified by CCTV, and the red paint on his hands and clothes! Needless to say he had been caught, red handed!!
This is an example of how good information from the public, plus prompt action by CCTV and Police responce can result in an offender being brought to justice.
