Officers on the Leamington North SNT team have purchased a digital video camera that can be worn by Officers as part of their uniform. ( A RoboCam )

The small compact lens which is quite visible, fits to the Officers headwear, which is then attached via a cable to a pocket sized Hard Drive.

A control switch allows the Officer to easily start to "Record" what they are seeing should they come across an incident that video evidence may be of value.

The camera can record hours of footage to the Hard Drive which can be transfered to Computer and if need be to CD Rom. The footage is of high quality and can be used as evidence with out Authorisation if required, because it is not covert and can be easily seen.

Officers will wear it while on general patrol, but only record footage when appropriate.

It will be useful for when Officers witness incidents in the street, attend potentialy aggressive situations or as evidence that action has been taken, such as serving/issuing legal documents or tickets etc.

So if you see an Officer wearing a RoboCam, do not be alarmed, .......unless your behaviour is inappropriate!
