Leamington Spa Open Day - 1 July 2007
OPEN DAY
Sunday 1st July 2007
2pm till 6pm
Leamington Spa Police Station
To help celebrate Warwickshire Police reaching its 150th anniversary this year, Leamington Police Station will be open to the public on Sunday afternoon July 1.
All Warwick district residents are welcome to visit the station to find out how policing is carried out and how the police equipment and buildings have adapted for use in the 21st century.
If visitors want to go back in time to the 70's they can look around a 1974 police vehicle or from today's policing look around the police cells or the reactive police car. Perhaps a murder scene of crime set up in one of the police cells would be interest?
Children can try on police uniforms and handcuffs and also have their finger prints taken.
A prison van will be open for visitors to look around to see how very small the cells are in the prison van.
A police dog will be at the station ready to make new friends.
Bicycle coding kits will be available and for the historians, a historical display will be on show.
Although the police station will be open from 2PM to 6 PM, normal policing will continue and will not be affected by the event.
Access to certain areas of the Police Station will be restricted due to operational and confidentiality purposes.
Any money raised on the day will be donated to the forces two named charities – Victim Support and the WN Air Ambulance.
