Vehicle Crime advice
With the advancement of technology and the current availability and popularity of Satalite Navigation Systems, Police are warning owners not to leave their vehicles with either the "sat nav" or "cradle" in the vehicle. Opportunist thieves will break into vehicles (during the day or night) even if just the cradle is on veiw, with the hope of finding the sat nav in the glove box or under a seat. The message it, REMOVE IT or LOSE IT!
Here are top tips for car crime prevention:
· Never leave anything on view inside your vehicle.
· Leave the glove box and the rear parcel shelf open to show there is nothing inside to steal.
· Disable car audio equipment by removing the front control panel - take it with you.
· Remove your sat nav equipment, including the cradle and take them with you. Wipe away any marks left by your sat nav. · Don't leave your car keys in the ignition - always take them with you.
· Always lock your car and close windows and sunroofs.
· Never leave your car unattended with the engine running.
· Fit your car with anti theft devices including an immobilizer, steering wheel lock, lockable wheel bolts, lockeable fuel cap and anti-theft number plates locks.
· Park your car in well lit, busy areas, or in a car park with CCTV security monitoring or car park attendant patrols.
