Update on sexual assault investigation, Oakley Wood

Incident 61, June 23

Officers investigating an allegation of a sexual assault near Oakley Wood, Wellesbourne at the weekend are trying to trace a driver who came to the aid of the victim.

The 25 year old female was driven to Oakley Wood, where the assault occurred, in a car with three males inside.

She was left by the roadside near to the top of Wasperton Lane where, it is believed, a passing motorist came to her rescue and, at her request, gave her a lift to Fenny Compton, dropping her off near to The Wharf public house.

It is believed that the driver is male and that the car is dark in colour.

He would have picked the woman up some time after 1am and dropped her off about 20 minutes later.

DC Jennifer Gee would like to speak to this driver as he may have vital clues to help establish what had happened earlier in the night.

Another motorist, who took the woman from Fenny Compton to her home in Northampton, has already been identified.

If you are the driver who helped the victim, or know who it is, please contact the Local Investigation team at Leamington Spa by calling Wariwckshire Police on 101 or 01926 415000.
