YOUR TEAM'S CURRENT PRIORITIES

Parking Obstructions on St. Andrews Crescent
At the February Community Forum this issue was raised as a priority. St. Andrews Crescent and St. Martins Close are being used by non-residents to park their vehicles and then walk to work. This is causing obstructions of the footpath and difficulties to residents leaving their homes.
Actions to be taken: PCSO 6151 Joey Werdekker liased with local councillors Mike Perry and Ron Cockings to come up with a solution to the parking issues. PCSO Werdekker ran a test to see how efficient parking restrictions would be and for 3 weeks placed NO WAITING cones along St Andrews Crescent. The test showed that parking restrictions could work quite well. The cones have now been removed. Warwickshire County Council have decided that parking restrictions will be coming into place soon. At present it would appear that there will be a maximum 2 hour wait between 8am - 6pm with possible free parking at weekends. As of yet there is no date about when the work shall be done if completed at all. On 24th June 2009 a letter was issued to all residents advising them to park their vehicles on the road or on their driveways. In the event that there was no room to park then it was advised that parking should be sought else where outside St Andrews Crescent. Residents have also been advised that if parking on the pavement continues then a fixed penalty ticket may be issued. Clopton Action Plan
The Clopton Action Plan is a continuing multi-agency initiative designed specifically to combat issues in the Clopton area surrounding anti-social behaviour and to improve the service provisions for young persons. This was raised at the February Community Forum and will be discussed again at the July Forum. The Plan is led by Warwickshire County Council but the police have an important role to play within it.
Actions to be taken: A number of initiatives have been undertaken by police in relation to the Clopton Plan. Part of this involved Operation Padbury which specifically focused police attention on anti-social behaviour in the Clopton area over a weekend in March. Numerous youths were stopped and spoken to, stop & searches were conducted and alcohol was seized. Furthermore two youths were arrested for a spate of criminal damage where local business premises had been targetted by graffiti. These two youths have since been formally dealt with by police and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts have been issued. In relation to the anti-social use of vehicles officers have issued a number of warnings under Section 59 Police Reform Act and when offenders have repeated their behaviour, their vehicles have been seized. Over the weekend of 25th/26th April a joint initiative between Traffic Officers and local police was undertaken to tackle this issue and a number of warnings and seizures were made again. Throughout the month of May Operation Aldecar will run in the town. This will add further emphasis to combatting the issues of nuisance vehicle use. In relation to the 'Safer Routes Home' initiative the Enhanced Policing Initiative (EPI) and Operation Puttenham have been running on weekends over the past few months. These have included a focus on patrolling areas that persons regularly use to leave town in order to improve the perception of safety when leaving the town centre.
