by Stratford Urban Team — last modified 08 October 2007 10:45 AM

TWENTY FIVE people were banned at January’s BRADwatch meeting.

BARDwatch is Stratford on Avon Town centre pubwatch scheme. BARDwatch has proved very successful over the past 18months in reducing violence in the town centre. Under the BARD watch’s scheme “banned from one, banned from all” means automatic ban from 31 licensed premises in the town for a minimum of three months and upto LIFE ban.

At January 2007 BARDwatch meeting, seven people received LIFE bans for violent conduct towards police, licensed premises staff and members of the public. Two under aged teenager received 12months bans from their 18th Birthdays for producing false identification to try and gain entry. Two males received 12 month bans for possession of drugs on licensed premises.

Sgt Sewell, Town Centre Sergeant said “The majority of the town’s pubs and clubs are members of BARDwatch. We are protecting the community by working together with the licensees, district council, town management and CCTV. BARDwatch’s ‘Banned from one, Banned from all’ scheme sends a message out to the community that unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated. We want people to come into Stratford Town without their evenings being spoiled by a disruptive element. The banning order is a message to the unwelcome troublemakers, that we will act to keep them out of the bars in the town.
