Members of the Polish community living in the Stratford district are being invited to go along to a special forum on Wednesday 12th December 2007 to learn about their rights and services available to them.
The multi-agency event, Welcome to Warwickshire, takes place at Stratford Town Hall, Sheep Street in Stratford in two forums between 2.30pm and 4.30pm and 7pm and 9pm.
Those attending will be given advice, guidance and information on support and services in the county, including details on benefits, education, community safety, health and housing. There will also be representatives from different organisations and agencies on hand to offer advice. An interpreting and translation service will be available.
PC Martin Rone-Clarke, Warwickshire Police Community Cohesion Officer, said: "The event is open to all and is being held to offer members of the Polish community the opportunity to learn more about living in the Stratford area. It is a partnership project between the police, councils and other agencies prompted after consultation with members of the community who have expressed a need for more information to assist in approving their quality of life in Warwickshire."
Those attending will also be able to sign up to receive a new publication, a Welcome to Warwickshire handbook, funded primarily by county, district and borough councils across Warwickshire, which will be available early in the new year.
This is the first in a series of such forums and plans are already in motion for a Polish/Portuguese welcome forum in Leamington in the new year.
