Stratford's three safer neighbourhood teams (Urban, Rural and Southam) have welcomed Inspector Janet Marsden as their new sector inspector.

Inspector Marsden joined Warwickshire Police four years ago running the Brunswick Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team in Leamington, a pilot for the Safer Neighbourhoods Scheme which was introduced throughout Warwickshire at the end of last year.

For the past year she has been a control room inspector at police headquarters, Leek Wootton.

Inspector Marsden began her police career 17 years ago when she joined Greater Manchester Police and initially worked in her home town of Oldham.

On promotion to Sergeant in 1995 she moved to the busy and challenging South Manchester Division and also worked in CID and other key departments.

Inspector Marsden, who is 44, has also worked overseas in Bosnia and East Timor and was one of a small team of officers from the UK and America who set up the Jordan International Police Training Centre.

Inspector Marsden said: "I am extremely fortunate to have been given this opportunity to be part of the safer Neighbourhood teams in Stratford.

"I always wanted to join the police for the variety of the job and the feeling of being able to achieve something that would help people.

"Policing in Warwickshire is very different to what I was used to in Greater Manchester, but it does have its own challenges.

"I can think of no better job than working with the community and our partners to ensure Stratford remains a safe and pleasant environment in which to live and work"

Welcoming Inspector Marsden to her new role Chief Inspector Chris Wadsworth, district commander for Stratford, said: "I am delighted to welcome Inspector Janet Marsden to Stratford. She is a very experiences and well respected officer who will add a lot to the team and partnership working."
