Community Policing in Stratford District

Community Policing is not new in Stratford District. Four Safer Neighbourhood teams have been operating in Alcester, Stratford Town, Stratford Rural and Southam since 2005.

A fortnightly newsletter is e-mailed by each team to their community representatives. In addition to building strong community links, we meet local partners every three months to review and update our action plans.

A full time Anti-social Behaviour Officer has been appointed and uses simple techniques like warning letters to nip in the bud any escalation in anti-social crime.

Safer Neighbourhood officers now have a number of mountain bikes on which to patrol. “It’s a very traditional way of policing and compliments the character of the town. It’s not intimidating, and allows officers to see and hear more of what’s going on and enjoy easier contact with local people,” says Christine Wadsworth.
