Public/PACT meeting, Lower Quinton
The police attended a public meeting chaired by Julian Davies (Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator) where the public were invited to air their views and perceptions on anti-social behaviour in the village.
Lots of views were exchanged and it was good to see the youth and older generations under the same roof giving both perspectives.
A questionaire compiled by Inspector Ayers was given to the attendees asking several simple questions about fear of crime and the reporting of crime and anti-social beahviour. The reults have been reviewed and the following is a brief summary of the findings.
The majority of people had either frequently or sometimes witnessed crime or anti-social behaviour but only about half reported it to the police of other authority. Most people stated that they felt the authorities were average or poor at dealing with crime and anti-social behaviour. But the majority of people felt moderately safe in their community. The majority community felt that they were sometimes informed of goods news in the community.
These were interesting results and there is already work ongoing to try and address the issues reaised. Thanks must go to all those who took the time to attend and fill out the forms and a special thanks to Julian Davies for chairing the meeting. watch this space for some updates.
