Blub Planting At Wellesbourne Station
Blub Planting At Wellesbourne Station Wellesbourne in Bloom as part of their "Heart of England in Bloom" campaign
are working with Wellesbourne Police to make the police station garden a
pleasing focal point in the centre of the village.

They have been provided with a hanging basket and tubs. Twenty five children
from Mrs Cookes class at Wellesbourne Primary School have planted over a
thousand daffodil bulbs in the garden. The children brought the police a
gift of tulips for the garden as well.
A great and mucky time was had by all.

Over 14,000 bulbs around Wellesbourne helped by the Lions,
Probation Service, Church, Co-op Supermarket, Cubs, Rainbows, St Peters
Pre-School, Wellesbourne Primary School and many kind residents.
Wellesbourne will be a riot of colour in the spring thanks to all those who
gave their time and effort.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas - avoid being a victim of crime!!
Have yourself a merry little Christmas - avoid being a victim of crime!! At this time of year burglars are on the look out for easy pickings and ready wrapped presents under your Christmas tree may prove too good an opportunity to miss. Members of the public will be able to get advice on how they can avoid becoming a victim.

Pre-Christmas advice includes:
*Do not leave gifts unattended in your car when shopping.
*Do not hide your Christmas presents in your car, garden shed or in the garage where a burglar can easily break in and steal them.
*Don't let someone else enjoy Christmas at your expense, please keep Christmas presents out of view of opportunist burglars until Christmas morning - it is not just the children you need to hide the presents from.
*Your Christmas tree looks lovely in the window with it’s twinkling lights. But leaving the curtains open enables burglars to look inside your house to see what there is to steal. Keep the curtains closed at night time.
*If you go out remember to leave some lights on to give the impression that someone is at home. Invest in a timer switch so that lights come on and off at different times to deter thieves and save energy.
*Leave a radio, tuned to a talk station, playing when you go out. A burglar is less likely to break in if they can hear voices inside.

Consider including an ultra violent pen, or a Smartwater marking set as a Christmas present. Then as soon as the excitement of Christmas morning has worn off, you have the equipment ready to hand to start marking your property. (Contact your Neighbourhood Watch organisation to find out how you can get a Smartwater marking kit), or contact the us for advice on marking your property.

Vehicle Theft - Keep your valuables and possessions safe...
Vehicle Theft - Keep your valuables and possessions safe... Don't leave any belongings on display. You might know that the bag on the back seat is empty, but will the thief? They steal first and think about the value later. One in five stolen cheques and credit cards are taken from cars. It's also sensible not to leave private mail, particularly with your address on it or the vehicles registration documents in the car.

Keep your car keys safe all the time- when just jumping out of the car for a second remove the keys from the ignition and lock all doors, it only takes a thief a few seconds to jump into your car and drive away. Even at home, keep your car keys in a safe place which is out of sight and away from windows and doors.

If your music system is removable, take it, along with CDs & tapes (and make a note of the serial number).

Security Devices...

Have immobilisers and car alarms professionally fitted. Ideally, car alarms should conform to the BS 6803 standard.

Electronic immobilisers (which prevent the car from starting) are a sure way to put off car thieves or mechanical immobilisers such as steering wheel locks are an in-expensive alternative you can fit yourself.

To prevent wheel theft fit wheel nuts, they are inexpensive and easy to fit.
Security Marking...

Consider marking all your valuables with a unique identifying number such as your postcode. Also consider etching, having your cars registration number etched onto all glass surfaces-including headlamps or the last 7 digits of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). All these numbers can be linked to recognised security databases. Also, make a note of the car's chassis number.

Parking...

If you have a garage try to use it.

Park your car where it can be seen, not out of sight. At night, avoid parking in areas with little or no lighting.

Look for a car park that is well supervised, and preferably one that displays a Secured Car Park (SCP) gold or silver emblem. For more info, visit www.saferparking.com

Also, tuck in wing mirrors and put the aerial down to discourage vandals.
