Crime Prevention – Vehicle Crime

Items that were stolen from vehicles ranged from small change and wallets to large power generators and projectors. Wellesbourne Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to remind the community to ensure that any items left in vehicles overnight should be kept out of view, and preferably removed altogether. Other measures that can help reduce thefts from motor vehicles include:

1.Don’t leave anything of value, or anything that looks like it may have value, in plain view in your car. Even an empty backpack will be inviting to a thief. Remember, they don’t know its empty.

2.Don’t leave anything in your car with your name and address on.

3.Keep your car keys on a separate key ring to your house keys, and park in well-lit areas.

4.Do not put items of value into your boot whilst shopping. Boots are easy to break into, and thieves watch for people placing items into their boots. If you need to keep something of value in your car whilst you stop, pull over and place the items in your boot BEFORE you get to where you are going.
