Fatal Road Traffic Collision, Wellesbourne
Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a red Ford Escort which was travelling north and a blue VW Lupo travelling south.
The driver of the Escort is believed to have lost control of the car which was then in collision with the Lupo. A male rear seat passenger in the Escort sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
The 30 year old driver of the car, also male, was taken to the University Hospital in Coventry where he underwent emergency treatment. He remains in a critical condition. A second male passenger was not seriously injured.
The driver of the Lupo, a 36 year old woman, suffered from shock, but was not physically injured in the collision.
The A429 was closed at the turning for Charlecote and at the Wellesbourne roundabout while collision investigators examined the scene and for recovery of the vehicles.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may been travelling on the A429 on Saturday evening at around 5.45pm and who may have seen the red Ford Escort travelling northbound, or the VW Lupo travelling southbound prior to the collision.
