NHW RU Distraction burglary at home of elderly lady in Woodlands Road, Binley Woods INC 234 of 31 March

Please be aware that between 2 and 4.30pm on 31 March three male offenders knocked at the door of an elderly lady in Woodlands Road, Binley Woods and offered to work on her guttering for a payment of £200. The offenders applied sticky tape to the guttering and then approached the lady for payment.

The offenders followed the lady upstairs to bedrooms as she went to get cash to pay them. The offenders were then disturbed by neighbours and made off. Once they had gone it was discovered that additional cash had been stolen.

Please can we remind you to be very careful about answering the door to strangers who offer to do work for cash payment. Do not allow anyone you do not know or are not expecting into your homes and always insist on checking their identification via telephone numbers from the phone book before allowing any work to be carried out.
