Police Appeal for Witnesses to a Burglary in Brownsover.

Police in Rugby are seeking help from members of the public after an 87 year old woman had money stolen when two intruders walked into her living room.

The woman was sitting watching television in the lounge of her home in Dunnerdale, Brownsover, Rugby at around 7.15pm on Friday evening, 6 November, when two male strangers opened the door and walked in.

The two males, who were both wearing baseball caps and had scarves tied across the lower part of their faces, did not speak but moved the settee away from the wall and also started to throw cushions from chairs onto the floor.

They opened the drawers in the sideboard in the room and found a purse containing £80 in cash together with two historic 17th century coins which they took with them when they left the house.
Neither male spoke while they were in the woman’s lounge.

They are both described as being white males, both approximately 5ft 6inches tall and both appeared to be in their 20s.They were both wearing baseball caps and black scarves across their faces.

The elderly householder was not physically injured during the burglary but was shocked when the two strangers walked into her home.

Police to provide tradesmen with work vans with free alarms in Rugby.

From Monday November 9th, free alarms are to be made available to tradesmen with vans who work or reside in the Rugby area.

Warwickshire Police have identified an increase in the number of tradesmen’s vehicles being broken into and tools stolen, from the Elliotts Field and Junction 1 retail parks on the Leicester Road in Rugby.

As a result Warwickshire Police are to give away free remote alarms to tradesmen at these sites and who reside and keep their vans in Rugby, as part of a campaign to raise awareness of such crimes and how they can affect local businesses.
Warwickshire Police have a quantity of free, battery powered alarms to give away to tradesmen that can easily be installed into the back of a van, are remotely set, with an audible siren which activates as soon as the vehicle is entered.

Tradesmen can obtain a free alarm from PCSO Barbara Knibbs at the Brownsover Information Centre, Hollowell Way providing proof that

That the business is based in North Warwickshire That the van is kept overnight in North Warwickshire and the van registration number. The supply is limited and will be given out on first come first served basis.
