Registered blind man assaulted, Kenilworth
Officers are investigating an incident where a man who is registered blind was assaulted near the bus stops in Abbey End, Kenilworth just before 9.50pm on Friday 3 August, 2012.
The man suffered various swellings, bruising and wounds to his head and a break to his shoulder that will require a series of operations to correct.
He was alone at the time of the assault.
Initial witnesses describe the man being on the floor unable to defend himself whilst he was struck to the head on numerous occasions by the offender.
The area was quite busy and several ‘Good Samaritans’ came to the aid of the injured man, chasing the attacker off. He ran off along Warwick Road towards the town centre at about 9.55pm. He may have run into a side street.
The offender is described as a white male with collar length hair and wearing a waist length jacket.
The exact location of the assault is near to the telephone kiosk and post box and there may have been people waiting at the nearby bus stop or outside the bars and restaurants at the location.
