Sept 08: Vehicle Damage in Stretton under Fosse
Due to the increase number of vehicle crimes in Stretton under Fosse. Local residents have raised this as a priority from the last PACT Partners and Communities Together Meeting.
Actions to be taken: Operation Harwick will be an on going operation by plain clothed officers. The rural safer neighbourhood team will be carrying out night patrols in Stretton under Fosse to take details on anyone that they encounter in the early hours of the morning acting suspiciously around cars. Also Warwickshire Police have launched a major operation against burglars and car criminals following a recent increase in the number of offences across the county. Operation Crunch started on Wednesday 17th September 2008. Full details can be found of the operation on the Rugby Rural North home page on the county news section.

June 08: Speeding through Villages
The Fosse locality panel meeting held in June highlighted the speeding through alot of the rural villages which is a safety concern for local residents. Villages for us to concentrate on are Wolvey, Stretton Under Fosse, Pailton, Monks Kirby and Harborough Magna.
Actions to be taken: This issue is being regularly enforced by the camera enforcement team who regularly place high visibility speed camera vans in villages. The police number plate recognition cameras are also being used in the area's to flag up vehicles which are being used on the roads without the correct documentation. We are still in discussion with Warwickshire County Council about acquiring several hand held speed camera guns for use by rural PCSO's and local residents.

June 08: Vehicle Damage
The increase of vehicle damage particularly on the fosse ward was a concern to local residents.
Actions to be taken: Convert operations have been put in place to identify who maybe committing the crimes in the area. Also local PCSO's have distributed leaflets on car security to local businesses and shops to distribute to local residents.

June 08: Innapropriate behaviour
Local residents are concerned about the meeting places for prostitutes and for other inanpropriate behaviour being moved onto other areas after the closure of Coal Pitt Lane Lay-by.
Actions to be taken: Intelligence is still being gathered on people visiting the area. High visible patrols are also carried out with convert operations still in place.

Old March 08: Speeding through Pailton Village
The Fosse locality panel meeting held in March highlighted that speeding through Pailton village is the main safety concern in the area. It was felt that Coventry Road is the most important area to concentrate on.
Actions to be taken: This issue has been discussed with the camera enforcement team, who now regularly place a high visibility speed camera van in the village. This van is able to issue speeding convictions, which will be sent through the post, and carry a minimum penalty of 3 points and a fine. Police number plate recognition cameras are also being used in the area which flag up vehicles which are being used on the roads without the correct documentation. PCSO's have also requested the use of hand held speed camera guns.

Old Jan 08:Coal Pitt Lane Lay.
Local residents have complained about the use of the lay-by on Coal Pitt Lane. Residents believe this has historically been used as a meeting place for prostitutes and for other innapropriate behaviour. The residents expressed a need for this issue to be addressed by both the police and the local council.
Actions to be taken: Operation Ampthill was set up by the Rugby Rural SNT team which comprised of a covert operation to un-cover what activity was actually taking place at the lay-by on Coal Pitt Lane including two other locations which had been named by residents. The operation was a success in that officers obtained alot of information in relation to the use of the lay-by on Coal Pitt Lane and the Fosse and also a small wooded area towards Wibtoft. Evidence was found by officers that the three areas were used on a regular basis by people and their activity due to the operation was disrupted. Paul Collette from CDRP is looking into the possibility that the areas are being advertised on the internet in order to disrupt or remove any information about the sites. A meeting was held on the 6th February in relation to the above issues and it has been agreed by the local Highways Authority and the Environmental Health that firstly the lay-by will be closed off on Coal Pitt Lane and secondly the areas will be cleaned up in order to prevent any further use of the lay-by.

Police officers will also be trained on the ANPR system to enable regular use of the ANPR system in order to improve the traffic issues in the area.
