NHW NB Thefts from vehicles at Pingles Leisure centre and church in Coton Road, Nuneaton INC 296 of 27 August

by Sasha last modified 28 August 2008 11:25 AM

We would like to make you aware of the following incidents which occurred in your area yesterday, 27 August.

Between 10.15 and 11.20am yesterday morning offenders stole the catalytic converters from a Suzuki van and a Hyundai Tuscon which were parked in the carpark of Pingles Leisure Centre, Nuneaton.

Between 12noon and 1pm offenders smashed the window of a vehicle parked at a church premises on Coton Road, Nuneaton. Nothing appears to have been stolen in the incident.

Please could we ask you to be actively alert when you are in carparking areas and to lookout for potential catalytic converter thieves.

The thieves usually target 4x4 vehicles or vans as they are higher off the ground and it easier for them the crawl underneath them.

There is also usually another vehicle waiting nearby with its engine running ready to make off.

If you spot anything at all suspicious in any carparking areas please report your concerns to police as there has been a sharp increase in the practice of stealing catalytic converters over recent months. Thankyou.
