NHW NB Robbery at business premises in Channel Way, Exhall INC 508 of 17 August
Masked robbers attacked a cash delivery van in Exhall using an angle grinder last night (Monday 17 August).
The van had just arrived at the Moorings Industrial Estate in Exhall at approximately 8pm when three males wearing masks approached the stationary van. One of them stood beside the drivers door holding a metal bar, which he used to threaten the driver with as his two accomplices used the angle grinder to force entry into the rear of the van.
They drove off in a red land Rover Defender, which was painted with a distinctive white roof which was being driven by a fourth person who was also wearing a dark coloured balaclava.
A red Land Rover Defender, believed to be the one used in the robbery and which had previously been stolen from an address in Nuneaton, was found burned out a short time later in Coalpit Fields in Bedworth.
After setting fire to the land Rover Defender the four robbers are believed to have transferred into a dark coloured Audi which had earlier been parked at Coalpit Fields.
It is not known at this time how much money was stolen from the cash delivery van. A security guard inside the rear of the van at the time of the attack was shocked but not physically harmed.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the red Land Rover Defender in the Bedworth or Exhall area on Monday evening prior to the robbery, or anyone who saw it being driven from the Exhall Industrial Estate towards Coalpit Fields. Or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the locality of Coalpit Fields during the evening, either before the robbery, or afterwards.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Mark Lakey at Nuneaton CID on 02476 641111 or they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where the information can be given anonymously.
