Priorities form the previous meeting were:
- Litter 2. Anti social behaviour in Pool Bank Street 3. Empty properties
Update from the Council:
· New recycling scheme has been launched. Residents have been asked to contact 024 76376170 if their boxes/bags are not collected on the day. · Ongoing discussions regarding the redevelopment of the Kingsholme are taking place between the owners and the Council. · The Gala Bingo site is currently being marketed but due to the interior now being ‘listed’ it is not generating much interest. · Lexington Court and Dillon Court now have their own residents association to tackle isolated issues in the area. · Kwik Save site is currently being marketing. Owners have agreed to have the site cleansed on a fort-nightly basis, which will be monitored by environmental health. · The Nags Head site is going to be sold by auction. The site has also recently been cleaned and had the graffiti removed. · Environmental health has visited Alexandra Street and can find no evidence of any rats.
Update from the Police:
· 40 arrests made since previous meeting for various offences, 30 detected. 4 detected for criminal damage offences. 11 detected for anti social behaviour. · 4 warrants carried out on the area resulting in class A and C drugs, offensive weapons and stolen property being seized. · Alcohol seized from under age youths in the area. · Operation Orleans running to cover Halloween and Bonfire night. This involves targeting off licences, convenience stores and supermarkets regarding selling of alcohol, eggs and flour to underage children. This will be run with the help of trading standards; test purchase operations will be run in shops on the area. Shifts have been altered to cover more lates to prevent anti social behaviour. · Parking issues on Jodrell Street Midland Road junction resulting in ticketing of vehicles in that location. · Over the summer, only one reported incident of disorder in Pool Bank Street. · One address in that area is being looked at with social services, with a view to arranging a meeting with the private landlord to discuss options. · Lexington and Dillon Court now have a residents association, which allows issues at these locations to be dealt with locally in partnership with the council and the local residents. · Team strength at time of writing, Sgt and three PC’s. PC Kaur has returned to a reactive shift. PCSO Samra is out on his own at the moment, as PCSO Martin is station bound on light duties. Feedback from the public:
· Concerns with groups of youths drinking in Pool Bank Street Park. Police, Council and Leisure Trust to all work together to tackle this problem and feedback at next meeting. · Large amounts of glass at Pool Bank Street after the weekend. May be connected to the above. · Suggestions of a recycling centre to be placed in the Lexington Court area to replace the individual recycling bags. · Better drainage on Burbage Walk as it tends to flood when we have heavy rain. · Intercom at Dillon Court- Will be looked at by Councillors. May take a while for funding to become available for this to be done. · Still problems with PACT leaflet distribution. Asked for volunteers to help with this.
