Police arrest suspicious driver
Police apprehended a man they believed was driving dangerously in Green End Road, Fillongly just after 21.00 hours on Tuesday 10 April.
PC Carl Stafford said “Whilst on patrol, I came across a male acting suspiciously in a Ford KA. He appeared to be travelling at high speed and when he saw us, he switched the lights off.
We turned around in the tight country lane and put the description over the air and PCSO’s Carl Boulter and David Brown who were out on patrol in Fillongly came across the vehicle.
They followed the vehicle providing vital information for myself, traffic police and the dog handler, including speed, direction, manner of driving etc.
This was invaluable for all officers involved and due to their prompt positive action we managed to stop the vehicle at Fillongly cross roads where the driver was found to be in possession of class c drugs and driving under the influence of drugs and subsequently arrested. He later received a caution.
Undoubtedly without the quick thinking and excellent communication skills the arrest and detection would not have been possible.
