Coleshill based Police Community Support Officers, PCSO 6129 Caroline McMURCHIE and PCSO 6167 Tim STATEN have been working on setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in Mercer Avenue, Water Orton along with the help of their Co-ordinator for the scheme, Beryl Sartorius.

The PCSOs and Beryl have so far signed up thirteen members to the scheme and anticipate recruiting more in weeks to come. All new members have been given Neighbourhood Watch window stickers and information packs and have all been signed up to the Police information sharing CAPS messaging system. Neighbourhood Watch scheme signage is to be placed on lamp posts in the road in the near future.

PCSO McMURCHIE said, "We are really pleased with the positive response that we have received so far from the residents of Mercer Avenue that we have approached with Neighbourhood Watch scheme. This scheme is all about local residents being neighbourly and putting a badge on it. Neighbourhood Watch is a great way of information sharing from both the residents' and the Police's point of view and the window stickers and lamp post signage are also a proven crime deterrent."
