Local PC and PCSO work with Borough Councillor to address Parking Issues in Water Orton.
PC Nina BOWDEN and PCSO Caroline MCMURCHIE have been working with Water Orton Borough Councillor Ray PAYNE to address ongoing problems with the parking bays outside the shops on Birmingham Road, Water Orton.
Members of the public, local residents and employers and employees of the shops are currently reporting parking problems. The types of problems being reported are obstructions (vehicles blocking drive ways and blocking in vehicles parked in the parking bays), parking on double yellow lines and parking on the pedestrian crossing zigzags. These problems are Police issues and the Police will take action against illegally parked vehicles in the interest of public safety.
Another issue that has been raised by employers is the lack of available parking for the passing trade. Parking at the front of the shops is limited and the local Police and Borough Councillor would like to discourage employers and employees from parking their vehicles in the bays in order to free up bays for the use of customers.
Alternative free parking is available for employers and employees in Water Orton Train Station car park, the rear section of The Digby Public House car park and on near by roadsides.
The local Police and Borough Councillor are keen to take a joint problem solving approach to these issues and would welcome any feedback or suggestions from members of the public, local residents and employers and employees of the shops.
