NHW NW Vehicle siezed and occupants checked by Special Constable in Shustoke area on 24 May
Good news from the North Warwickshire South Safer Neighbourhoods Team
On Thursday 24 May 2012, Special Constable SC 3010 John Reeves from the North Warwickshire South Safer Neighbourhoods Team was on patrol round the Shustoke area, when he noticed occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver and passenger both admitted they were looking for scrap metal. Special Constable Reeves then carried out a vehicle registration number check via the Police National Computer on the vehicle and its occupants.
Through carrying out the checks SC Reeves discovered that both men, who were Romanian nationals, both had previous records for burglary and theft, and that the vehicle they were driving was registered to an address in Oldham, Lancashire and uninsured. As the vehicle had no insurance, SC Reeves seized it under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and the two men had to make there own way back home on foot.
