NHW BW NW Driver from Coventry sentenced at Crown Court following reckless driving incident at Hams Hall car cruising event
This message is sent on behalf of Inspector Devereux of Warwickshire Police:
I would like to take this opportunity to advise you that a driver seen on you- tube driving recklessly at a car cruising event at Hams Hall has been sentenced at Crown Court on 17th February 2012.
This driver was pursued by police but on the grounds of public safety it was necessary to abandon the pursuit. Despite the vehicle being falsely registered the offender was subsequently arrested and charged with a number of offences. Some of you may recall the footage of his Citroen Saxo being crushed by Warwickshire Police .
Steven Neil McInulty, aged 24 years of Heathcote Street, Coventry was sentenced at Crown Court for dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and other motoring offences. He received the following sentence:-
32 weeks imprisonment (suspended for two years)
A 24 month supervision and probation order
200 hours unpaid work
A further disqualification of three years after which an extended driving test is required.
Costs of £1800
His car had previously been destroyed.
"This was an horrendous example of driving at its worst and it was merely luck that Mcinulty didnt kill anyone. I understand that some members of the community are disappointed at the sentence he received .If he re-offends or fails to comply with his unpaid work or probation it is quite likely that he will go to prison. Hopefully the loss of his car , the sentence and the high costs awarded will serve as a deterrent to others"
