Day of action Scrap Metal Vehicles

On Monday 11th June 2012 there will be a multi agency action day to target the activities of scrap metal vehicles travelling around the 2 Districts. The Police will be in company with Local Authority staff from environmental teams looking to check out vehicles operating to make sure they have the appropriate documentation to carry out their business and have the vehicle insurance to cover the activity. They will also be looking to use legislation regarding the use of horns/megaphones in order to advertise their business.

In order to identify the areas of operation and to track down the vehicles they are asking for NHW help.
If you spot a vehicle on that day,operating collecting scrap metal you are invited to ring 024 76483163 and speak to Martyn or Helen from WCC and provide the following detail.

contents
Number of occupants and brief description if poss.
Audible equipment being used Yes or No.

All information will only be used to inform patrolling officers of suspect vehicles and not for evidential purposes.
