Alert Neighbour's Information Helps Police Catch Burglar!
From the North Warwickshire South Safer Neighbourhoods Team
On Wednesday 18 January a burglary took place at an address in Fillongley where the offender smashed a rear window causing the house alarm to activate. An alert neighbour immediately telephoned the Police, correctly passed on the registration number of the offenders car and an accurate description of the burglar. The vehicle was seen by police officers, who after a pursuit caught and arrested the offender.
This clearly illustrates the benefit of fitting and maintaining a house alarm as well as showing the difference an observant member of the public can really make. It is important to report things when they happen and this increases the chance of a positive result.
PC 86 Ellen Beaty, Beat Manager for North Warwickshire South SNT said, "The house in question is covered by Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) scheme and this may account for the prompt and effective action taken by the neighbour." If you are not in NHW and are interested please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team for more information.
