Fighting Crime in North Warwickshire
- Levels of violent crime are low and detections are extremely high.
- The district has zero tolerance for drugs, making no distinction between ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ drugs and has an exceptionally high detection rate.
- North Warwickshire has taken a lead in tackling car crime and constantly introduces new initiatives to have a positive impact on offending e.g. eight Special Constables are trained to use an Automatic Number Plate Recognition Vehicle - a high profile policing tactic used to combat travelling criminals on arterial routes through the district.
- A full time PCSO is based at Corley motorway services. Here, we have introduced unique Talking Signs, activated by movement, which have led to substantial reductions in crime.
Crime Mapping
Members of the public can now access the latest local crime information through a new interactive crime mapping website. The maps highlight force crime data by ward level, above-or-below-average crime rates for the force (based on 1 an 2 standard deviations), allowing for a comparison to the same time the previous year and showing the trend on a monthly basis for the last 12 months.
