Graffiti youths made to clear up their mess, North Warwickshire East
With the help of Atherstone’s CCTV, provided and run by North Warwickshire Borough Council, two youths were arrested in late December after they were seen to graffiti a bridge.
On Wednesday 27 January, the two youths, accompanied by Atherstone based Police Community Support Officers PCSO Sarah Mander and PCSO Lucy Kirven, were made to address the harm they had caused to the community by removing the graffiti.
The process of Restorative Justice can be used when offenders are aged between 10 and 17 years of age, have no previous convictions and the offence is relatively minor. PCSO Lucy Kirven said: "I believe the two culprits have learnt a valuable lesson and it will also make others think twice about making the same mistake."
