Graffiti Culprits Made to Clear Up Their Mess!
With the help of Atherstone’s CCTV, provided and run by North Warwickshire Borough Council, two youths were arrested in late December after they were seen to graffiti a bridge. On Wednesday 27 January, the two youths accompanied by Atherstone based Police Community Support Officers PCSO 6198 Sarah Mander and PCSO 6237 Lucy Kirven were made to clear up the damage they had done. The process of Restorative Justice can be used when offenders are aged between 10 and 17 years of age, have no previous convictions and the offence is relatively minor. PCSO 6237 Lucy Kirven said ‘I really think that the two culprits have learnt a valuable lesson today and it will also make others think twice about making the same mistake.’
