Following an upturn in criminal activity in Atherstone town centre, resources from the Safer Neighbourhood Team together with CID officers were deployed on foot in the town centre. PCSO Sarah Mander worked closely with CCTV staff and together they identified and located a suspect who had abandoned a vehicle and made off from police officers.

This person was subsequently arrested after officers were guided to his whereabouts with the aid of the town's CCTV system. Sergeant Roger Fildes, the Safer Neighbourhoods Team Manager, based at Atherstone Police Station stated: "This is a clear demonstration of the capabilities of the town centre CCTV, the professionalism of those who operate it, and effective partnership working together to protect communities from harm."
