Introduction to the North Warwickshire Borough

Having two main towns - Atherstone and Coleshill - and over 30 villages, with a population of 65,000 covering over 110 square miles, North Warwickshire is often described as a “community of communities”.

Whilst largely semi-rural, it borders Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and the West Midlands, and faces the difficulties of transient crime. In response, a strong working relationship has been developed with neighbouring forces.

District Commander Michael Wylde’s policy is to keep officers out on the street as much as possible, increasing visibility and reassurance.

Although overall crime levels are relatively low, we still need to address the public’s fear of crime. The borough works closely with the local media to make appeals and publicise its successes in fighting crime and anti-social behaviour.
