Warwickshire Police Launch Competition To Design This Year's Annual Report
Have you ever looked at something and thought to yourself, "I could have done that," or maybe you've even thought "I could do BETTER than that."
Well now's your chance to show that you really can.
Warwickshire Police Authority (WPA) and Warwickshire Police are launching a competition to invite members of the public to design this year's Annual Report.
Each year the Police Authority and the Police Force must produce an Annual Report that looks back over the previous 12 months and provides an overview of performance, achievements, finances and important events that have taken place.
Always keen to discover innovative ways of working with the community, this year Warwickshire Police and the WPA want to give the public the opportunity to get directly involved with the design of this important public document.
The winning designer will receive £500 as well as enjoying the knowledge that their design will be available for every resident in Warwickshire to see. The competition is open to everyone over the age of 16 years, and participants must be resident within the United Kingdom. The closing date for entries is September 30, 2009 with the Annual Report due to be published in October or November.
Speaking about this novel approach to designing one of the force and the WPA's most important documents Deputy Chief Constable Andy parker said, "This is an innovative approach, which we hope will generate a lot of interest, both from people wanting to design the Annual Report, and from people wanting to see the winning design when it is published. This competition is an example of our commitment to working with and listening to the views of our communities."
Copies of the Annual Report will be made widely available in libraries, supermarkets, doctors and dentist surgeries etc as well as being available online at warwickshire.police.co.uk
Full details relating to the competition are available on the Warwickshire Police website. (Link to Warwickshire Police annual report Competition). Those wishing to take part must complete the online registration process, or apply in writing to Warwickshire Police (Annual Report Competition, C/O Mark Richards, Business Planning Manager, Police Headquarters, Leek Wootton, CV35 7QB).
Once registration is approved applicants will be permitted access via the website to folders containing details of content along with photographs and corporate logos etc for use within the project.
Details of the competition are also being circulated to senior schools and colleges to make them aware of the opportunity to design the Annual Report.
Judging of the entries will take part in October when the judging panel, chaired by Ian Francis, Chair of the Authority, will decide the winning entry which will then go forward to be used to produce the Annual Report.
