Safer Neighbourhood team members are dedicated to working within the areas they police. There will be occasions when officers and staff do have to leave the area, for example to take a prisoner to the police station or to attend training courses.

There will also be times when they have to support the policing of serious incidents or major events. We have set a level of abstraction that covers these eventualities and we aim for all team members to be working in the areas – or on solutions to problems in their areas – for 90% of their working time. This target is monitored.
